State, SLV put generosity on display

ALAMOSA — Colorado Gives Day, which was held Dec. 10, raised $39.6 million statewide.

In the San Luis Valley, over $183,000 was raised for 26 nonprofit organizations that serve the residents of the San Luis Valley.

Special incentive winners were Habitat for Humanity and Valley Humane League.

Business sponsors were the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and SLV Brewing/The Roast.

Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving. The event is powered by ColoradoGives.org, a year-round, online giving website. The Community Foundation of the San Luis Valley is the Regional Champion for Colorado Gives Day in the San Luis Valley.

Community First Foundation and FirstBank each contributed $500,000 to create a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every nonprofit who received a donation on Colorado Gives Day received a portion of the fund.

“The donations received on Colorado Gives Day help nonprofits in the San Luis Valley serve the residents of the San Luis Valley,” says Mike Roque, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of the San Luis Valley, the Regional Champion of Colorado Gives Day for the San Luis Valley.
