‘Strong’ turnout for Woodward 5k

Melanie Woodward thanks the more than 200 participants in the Woodward Strong 5k held Saturday in Cole Park in support of her husband Jeff who is battling pancreatic cancer. Also shown to her right is daughter Penni Woodward Shalberg and to her left son Kyle Woodward. Daughter Tanya Woodward Allen said more than 300 registered for the event. First place went to Elijah Delacerda in a time of 19:40 followed by Josh Medina (20:19) and Nick How (20:22). Donations to the Woodward Strong fund are still being accepted at Alamosa State Bank.

More than 200 runners and walkers participated in the fundraiser for the Jeff Woodward family of the more than 300 who registered. Well known for his longtime leadership for the annual Early Iron Festival, Jeff is battling pancreatic cancer.
