Sub-district 2 board presents water plan

ALAMOSA — Since November of 2016, the board of managers of Special Improvement District No. 2 of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District (Subdistrict No. 2) has held numerous public meetings to prepare a detailed Plan of Water Management (the “plan”) based on the conceptual plan that was presented during the petition drive to form Subdistrict No. 2.

The board of managers has completed this process and is now ready to present the draft plan for additional public comment at a special meeting to be held on June 28th beginning at 5 p.m. The special meeting will be held at the office of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District, 8805 Independence Way, Alamosa.

Copies of the draft Plan are available in advance of the meeting at the following locations: the county treasurer’s offices in both Alamosa and Rio Grande County; the Division of Water Resources in Alamosa; and, the Rio Grande Water Conservation District’s Office.

The draft plan is also available on the district’s website at www.rgwcd.org.

The board of managers encourages members of Subdistrict No. 2 to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss the draft plan with the board so they can make final changes before submitting the plan to the board of directors of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District and the State Engineer. The board of managers will use this public meeting to explain the draft plan and to answer any questions, address other concerns and make changes if necessary.  Representatives from the Division of Water Resources will be attending this meeting.

Further inquiries should be directed to Cleave Simpson, c/o of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District, 719-589-6301.
