Alamosa resident Taj Ian Cornum, 20, passed away on August 16, 2021. He was born on April 15, 2001 in Ames, Iowa to Spencer Burke and Nicholena (Horton) Cornum. Taj was a 2020 graduate of Centauri High School. He was an incredibly gifted athlete and enjoyed playing on the Falcon’s football, wrestling and track team. The only thing bigger on the football field, other than Taj’s ego, was his reputation. He was a force to be reckoned with. Between his junior and senior year of high school, he reported to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where he completed basic training and began his service to our country in the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman and he truly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed demolition derbies and above all spending time with his brothers and friends. He had a mischievous personality and loved to tease his loved ones. For Taj, life was an adventure and he lived everyday to the fullest. As tough as this kid was, he had a soft spot in his heart for babies and the underdog. His final gift to this world was the gift of organ donation. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all those who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Burke and Nicky Cornum, his siblings, Talen Cornum, Taven Cornum, Tait Cornum, Tatiana Cornum, Tauriel Cornum, his grandparents, Joe and Sheri Horton, Hal and Mary Cornum, his great grandparents Bill and Mary King as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving extended family.
