The Kempters to share concert

ALAMOSA — The Kempters, a vintage gospel band, will be singing at Calvary Bible Chapel, 7160 Brush Lane in Alamosa, at 7 p.m. on September 12.

The Kempters are a multi-talented family of six, bringing their own brand of vintage gospel music all the way from Slapout, Alabama. Just a taste of what people are saying about The Kempters: “A surprisingly refreshing experience of energetic, disciplined and gifted Southern artists, inspired arrangements of The Kempters entertain and enthuse, drawing congregation and audiences in with strengthening cords of faith — as extended family.”

In 2008 they started playing music and by the end of 2009 were performing full time. The band consists of Chaz, Nathan, Danielle, JoAnna, Chris and Charli, each specializing on an instrument of their choosing — the guitar, bass, keys, mandolin, fiddle and drums, respectively.

The name vintage gospel came from not fitting into any one genre. Diehard bluegrass fans claimed they were not bluegrass, so they switched to vintage gospel because no one could argue with it. Their music is very unique and they cover a wide range of genres, playing a variety of music ranging from hymns and bluegrass to contemporary, country and a little classical. People say they have a little something for everyone. Come join in an energetic and interactive experience that is sure to be uplifting.

“We pray that the smiles on the outside will be a testimony of the joy on the inside,” the family states. “It is truly our joy to share the faith and hope we all have in Christ Jesus.”
