San Luis resident Theresa Kay Madrid-Maes, 62, passed away October 23, 2017 at Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Theresa was welcomed into the world on April 12, 1955 in San Luis, Colorado, the daughter of Julio Madrid and Victoria Martinez Madrid. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Sangre Dr Cristo Credit Union and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society. Theresa was an exceptional and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed going fishing, picking pinon, reading, watching novelas, going to Bingo, playing cards and cooking. Her joy in life came from the time she was able to spend with her daughter, grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter LyVonne Maes of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren  Norbert and Norbertina Maes of Colorado Springs, CO; uncle Eligio "Lee" Madrid of San Luis, Aunt Inez (Felix) Barela of Albuquerque, NM; and Aunt Wilma Lovato of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Maryann Medina of Colorado Springs, CO; Gina (Jesse) Aragon, Donna (Alfredo) Hernandez, Lori Espinoza all of San Luis, CO; brothers Johnathan Madrid, Julio Madrid both of San Luis, CO; Michael (Margaret) Madrid of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents Julio and Victoria Madrid, husband Norbert Maes, brothers Juan Madrid, Ramon "Dickie" Madrid, Anthony "Gordo" Madrid, Eddie Madrid and one sister Juanita Madrid.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1:00 PM also at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Sangre De Cristo Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
