Three Alamosa girl wrestlers qualify for state

ALAMOSA – Three Alamosa High School girls wrestlers qualified for the state tournament at the Region 3 Tournament which took place Friday at Discovery Canyon High School in Colorado Springs.

Two of the Lady Mean Moose finished second in their weight divisions.

Sarah DeLaCerda was the runner-up at 111 pounds. She pinned Lamar’s Payton Adamson in 52 seconds, and pinned Discovery Canyon’s Mia Thorne in 1:23 to advance to the finals. She was defeated by Merino’s Bella Cross by a 7-4 decision.

Isabella Durgan was second at 215. She opened the tournament by pinning Lamar’s Misti Razey-Reyes in 43 seconds, and she pinned Manitou Springs’ Hannah Hollick-Mitchell in 1:59. She was pinned by Far Northeast’s Stefania Jaramillo in 5:54 in the final.

Danielle Reveles also advanced to state by finishing fourth. She began her tournament by pinning Coronado’s Ella Gustafson in 1:15 but was pinned in the next round by Douglas County’s Grace Huber in 3:03. She then pinned Pueblo Central’s Breonna Ayala in 4:17, and Sierra’s Nadiya Trujillo in 2:23. She was pinned by Discovery Canyon’s Mia Wilfong in the third-place match in 2:01.

The remaining Alamosa wrestler, Alex Miera, lost both of her matches and was eliminated.

Alamosa finished in ninth place with 60 points.
