Three SLV leaders appointed to key statewide boards, committees By PRISCILLA WAGGONER

SAN LUIS VALLEY – The Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions has announced the appointment of three individuals from the San Luis Valley to serve on either a statewide board or committee addressing issues of key importance to residents of the valley.

Monte Mullins of Alamosa has been appointed to serve on the Board of Assessment Appeals. This board is responsible for hearing appeals filed by real and personal property owners on the valuation placed on their property. Mr. Mullins’ term will expire on June 30, 2022.

Aaron Miltenberger, also of Alamosa, was appointed to serve on the Child Protection Ombudsman Board. The Child Protection Ombudsman Board oversees decisions related to the Office of Child Protection Ombudsman, including personnel decisions, accountability and consistency in operating policies and procedures, and fiscal oversight of the general operating budget. In the announcement, Mr. Miltenberger was selected to “serve as an individual with previous professional experience with a rural county human or social services agency or a rural private child welfare advocacy agency.”  His term will expire August 1, 2025.

Gigi Dennis-Loundsbury of Monte Vista was reappointed to the Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Committee. This committee reviews the existing and potential impact of the development, processing, or energy conversion of mineral and fuel resources in various areas of the state. The Committee then makes recommendations to the Department of Local Affairs to assist impacted areas, a state agency which plays a vital role in the funding process of a range of community interest projects in the San Luis Valley. Ms. Dennis-Loundsbury’s term will expire August 24, 2025.

The mission of the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions is to ensure people have the opportunity to make their voices heard – from all corners of the state – and to engage in their state government and help improve the communities where they reside. Their expertise and the diverse perspectives they provide is crucial to, in the words of Governor Polis, “making government work better for all of us.”
