Tobias "Toby" Eugenio Herrera, 75

Longtime resident Tobias "Toby" Eugenio Herrera, passed away May 30, 2017 at the San Luis Care Center. Toby was born on April 12, 1942 in La Lama, New Mexico, the beloved son of Fortunato Herrera and Sobeida Martinez Herrera. Toby was a well known member of the community with his various involvement in the Senior Citizen Center, to cooking for many years at the Lamplighter Restaurant and Crossroads Turning Points. Toby was a kind, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center, playing pool, reading the bible, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include the mother of his children Louise Herrera of Alamosa, CO; daughter Amy Susan Montoya (Priscilla Moncivaiz) of Alamosa, CO; sons Rocky Herrera, Toby Herrera Jr., Ned (Betty) Herrera all of Alamosa, CO; grandchildren Jeffrey Montoya, Juanita Montoya both of Alamosa, CO; Timothy Herrera of Tucson, AZ; Dominic Herrera, Christian Herrera both of Alamosa, CO; great-granddaughter Lawliet Montoya of Alamosa, CO; sister Rose Herrera of Alamosa, CO; brother Ernie Herrera of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

Toby is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Fedelino Herrera.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. A special Thank You to the San Luis Care Center staff and Dr. Brinton. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
