Traffic stop results in two drug arrests

ALAMOSA– Two local women were arrested here Tuesday night after a routine traffic stop resulted in the discovery of unlawful controlled substances in their vehicle.

Fantashia Aragon, 29, of San Luis and passenger Renee Archulteta, 36, of Alamosa were charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Drug Felony 1), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Drug Felony 4), Marijuana Offense (Drug Felony 2) and were transported to the Alamosa County Detention Center. 

Alamosa Police officers Sarmiento and Aziz conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Ross Avenue on a vehicle for failure to use a turn signal. The vehicle appeared to have fictitious license plates and the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.

Officer Moreno and K9 Kilo were requested to the traffic stop for deployment.  K9 Kilo alerted on the vehicle and during a subsequent search, officers located 850+ fentanyl pills, cocaine, a large amount of marijuana, a miscellaneous amount of US Currency, clear plastic baggies, and a scale.
