Trail of Thoughts: March Madness

March Madness is here! This phrase can mean more things than one. While it certainly refers to a basketball tournament, there are also many other things that come with the month of March.

There is a little thing called cabin fever and being more than ready for spring and warmer weather, especially with the temperatures that this winter brought. It can also mean that many summer activities are on the horizon, not to mention the craziness of spring break travel and, indeed, even occasionally St. Patrick’s Day.

I don’t mind March, as I like the arrival of spring.  The reason being, it also represents new green grass new crops being planted, and new calves running through the pasture.

It is also the time of year that I start to anticipate the arrival of one of my favorite seasons of the year: summer. It is a time of the year that can actually be quite refreshing. Fresh air, a new season and another holiday on the horizon and brewing activity are all contributors to this idea of March Madness.

There is just something about this month that builds a sense of anticipation for the months that follow. Yes, March is crazy, but in many ways it is a good kind of crazy.
