Training summit planned

ALAMOSA — The San Luis Valley Regional Emergency Medical Trauma Advisory Council will be holding a training summit on May 17 and 18 in Alamosa.

Reyna Martinez RMD coordinator noted that the training has previously only been available to EMT’s, however; local firefighters and police officers will also be able to take part in the course in 2019.

Martinez also noted that the purpose of the training is to increase collaboration among first responders and be able to have the “best patient care for the community.”

The training will cover a wide variety of topics including MCI, Crime Scene, Pain Control, Report Writing Skills, Human Trafficking, Acute Burn Care, Cardiology/LVAD, Airway Skills, Sepsis, OB/Pediatric, Trauma Skills, Opioid Use Disorder, Landing Zone, Extrication, Ambulance Equipment, Basic Skill Review, PTSD, and Emergency vehicle operation.

The training is free thanks to the donation of time from training partners that include the Alamosa Police Dept., Swedish Medical Center, Eagle Air Med, Rio Grande Hospital and Clinics, SLV Health, Foundry, Reach Air Med Services, Trinidad State Junior College, and Colorado State Patrol.

Registraion forms

First Responders and medical personnel are welcome to attend. Registration forms are due by May 10. The event will be held at the SLV Health Training/Conference Center. For more information email [email protected].
