Trout Unlimited to hear about stream management

ALAMOSA — Please join SLV Chapter of Trout Unlimited for ITS regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 27th at 7 p.m. at the SLV Health, Education and Conference Center at 1921 Main Street in Alamosa.

Don’t miss this program at this month’s meeting titled “Stream Mgt. Plans-What are they, how they work and how is TU involved?” Stream Management Plans or SMP’s are taking off in many of Colorado’s river basins. SMP’s were enabled as one of eight measurable objectives identified in the Colorado Water Plan’s Chapter 10 “Critical Action Plan”. SMP’s have a clearly stated purpose; to identify essential environmental and recreational flow regimes in 80 percent of the priority stream reaches identified in the Roundtable created Basin Implementation Plans throughout the state.

Dan Omasta from Colorado Trout Unlimited and Richard Van Gytenbeek from the Western Water and Habitat program of TU National, will join with Kevin Terry, the Rio Grande Basin Project Manager of TU to provide a short presentation on Stream Management Plans. Anyone interested in the fishing conditions and health of streams in the SLV will find this program interesting.

For more information contact 719-378-2751.

As always the meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided and a prize drawing will be held at the end of the meeting.

Trout Unlimited is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and restoration of  North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.
