Tu Casa concludes Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month

VALLEY — According to a 2015 CDC Study there were 683,000 victims of child abuse and neglect reported to child protection services in the United States. Please help Tu Casa’s Children’s Advocacy Center of the San Luis Valley Program and the Alamosa County Department of Human Services end child abuse and neglect by learning the facts.

Tu Casa, Inc., the Children’s Advocacy Center Program, the Alamosa County Department of Human Services, and Alamosa Elementary 3-5 hosted the 4th Annual Poster Contest in honor of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month which is observed in April.  The winning posters will be used in a poster campaign in 2018 and can be seen during the month of April around the city of Alamosa.

The children were asked to draw a picture of what they hoped to be when they grow up using the theme “Protect Me, Protect My Future.”

Prizes for first, second, and third place were handed out to students in each grade. The prizes that were handed out were donated by Domino’s Pizza, Splashland, and the Alligator Farm. Tu Casa’s Children Advocacy Center of the San Luis Valley Program and the Alamosa County Department of Human Services would like to thank the generous donors as well as the Alamosa Elementary 3-5 School and Wendi Weideman for their help in coordinating this event.

Without the support of the community this would not be possible.
