Tu Casa, Inc. sets Winter Gala

ALAMOSA — For 39 years, Tu Casa, Inc. has provided emergency shelter, advocacy and emergency financial assistance to victims of domestic violence.  The services are free to victims and Tu Casa, Inc. has relied on community support to ensure that victims are safe and able to move on, free of abuse.

Tu Casa Inc. is starting off 2018 by hosting a Winter Gala with a very important theme. The gala will help community members understand What is Love?  Everyone has their own definition of love; it is one of those terms that could have many meanings. Sometimes the best way to learn something is to learn what it is not. Love is not stalking someone, it is not controlling their finances, it is not hurting them physically or emotionally, and it is not saying “I’m sorry,” repeatedly.  Love is tenderness, warmth, respect, understanding, togetherness, and even friendship.  Love is an energy that brings people together.

The Winter Gala will be held on February 24 at the Columbus Home Association Event Center (formerly known as the Knights of Columbus), beginning at 6 p.m. Funds raised at the Winter Gala will help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the San Luis Valley with things like court advocacy, relocation services, emergency shelter, and hygiene necessities.

Tickets are $50 each for a cocktail hour, dinner, silent and live auctions, and a dance.  For more information and tickets please call 719-589-2465 or visit our website at www.slvtucasa.net.
