TU hosts program on bamboo rods

ALAMOSA — Please join SLV Chapter of Trout Unlimited for its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 27, at 7 p.m. at the SLV Health, Education and Conference Center at 1921 Main Street in Alamosa.

Mark Konishi will present a program this month titled “Bamboo Rods: Too Fragile, Too Expensive, Too Slow, and Other Fallacies.” While any decent fly fishing outfit will cast a fly, bamboo offers a totally unique experience. A quality bamboo rod provides a level of responsiveness unmatched by any other fly rod material. Misconceptions keep many anglers from becoming owners of a split cane rod, or prevent them from using a family heirloom. Hear some thoughts about bamboo, a once living material that again comes alive in the hands of the angler. Mark is a very proficient fly fishermen and this promises to be a great program.

As always the meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided and a prize drawing will be held at the end of the meeting.

Trout Unlimited is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and restoration of North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.
