Tuesday fire contained

CREEDE—A fire burning above Blue Creek Lodge was reported mid-morning on Tuesday by Mineral County officials. The fire burned less than five acres of land northeast of the lodge and has been contained.

Blue Creek Lodge guests were evacuated at 12:33 p.m. as a result of emergency vehicles needing access to the area.

Crews from South Fork, Mineral County, the Forest Service and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control stopped the spreading of the fire and contained it as of late afternoon on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended campfire. Evacuated individuals have been allowed to return to the lodge.

There may be smoke visible from the highway for the next few days.
