Two arrested by MVPD

MONTE VISTA — A fugitive of justice and another man were arrested Monday by Monte Vista police after a standoff at 657 Jackson Street.

Blas Villa, 38, of Monte Vista, who had been sought by police for several months, was arrested on charges of absconding from parole and an active arrest warrant for domestic violence. He was located within a camper trailer on the property and refused to surrender before he eventually emerged and was arrested.

He was booked into the Rio Grande County jail.

While serving the initial search warrant, officers encountered Titus Naranjo, 28, Monte Vista.  Naranjo was in possession of a loaded handgun and methamphetamine. He was arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine and special offender due to his criminal history. He was also booked into the Rio Grande County Jail.

Officers also seized two vehicles and pursuant to additional search warrants, located additional drugs within the vehicles.

The Monte Vista Police Department was assisted by the Colorado State Patrol in making these arrests.
