Two inmates escape from Conejos County Jail

CONEJOS COUNTY — The Conejos County Sheriff’s Office and area law enforcement are looking for two escapees from the Conejos County Jail and are asking for help from the community.

Shortly after 4:30 A.M., March 3, 2018, Kyle Pauley, 31, and Lawrence Gonzales, 23, were identified as missing during a routine check of the housing unit. The two were last seen in the Antonito area. It is believed at this time that they have changed clothing and or appearance.

Pauley, left, is a 6-foot-tall white male weighing 160 pounds. He was arrested for aggravated robbery, possessing a weapon and felony menacing.

Gonzales, right, is a 5-foot-9-inch-tall Hispanic male weighing 165 pounds. He was arrested for intimidation/stalking and drug possession.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the Jail facility to lend assistance with the investigation: including the Antonito Police Department, Manassa Police Department, Alamosa County Sheriff, Alamosa Police Department, Costilla County Sheriff, Rio Grande County Sheriff, Monte Vista Police Department, Colorado Dept. of Parole, and the Colorado State Patrol. A lockdown of the facility was ordered and a complete count was taken of all inmates in custody. A reverse 911 message was sent out through Colorado State Patrol Dispatch at 12:43 PM and again 8:15 P.M.
