Two residents recovering after machete assault

Three suspects arrested on numerous charges

ALAMOSA– Two Alamosa residents are hospitalized, and three suspects are in custody following an alleged attack with a machete about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Alamosa Police Department (APD) officers were dispatched to the intersection of 13th Street and Edison avenue on a report of a male party who had been stabbed. Caleb McNeeley, 28, and Esmaralda Acosta, 20, were both found with injuries they described as having been inflicted with a machete.

Both victims stated that three male parties assaulted them near an abandoned home in the 1400 block of Edison Avenue and left in a white pickup truck. With the victims’ description of the vehicle and suspects, APD officers were able to locate and arrest the threesome in the same area as the assault.

Arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, were Anthony Dominguez, 34, Alamosa, Antonio Cisneros, 20, Antonito, and Martin Hernandez Orozco, 21, Albuquerque, NM. All are being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center.

McNeeley sustained serious bodily injury to his left elbow and forearm and was transferred to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, according to a City of Alamosa news release. Acosta sustained bodily injury to her head and hands and is currently being treated at San Luis Valley Health.

Dominguez is charged with three felonies, first degree burglary, first degree assault and menacing, and misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Cisneros is charged the same with an additional count of felony conspiracy.

Hernandez Orozco is also charged with conspiracy in addition to first degree burglary, first degree assault, felony menacing, third degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The burglary charges relate to an alleged break-in at the abandoned home on Edison.

Police Chief Ken Anderson said this incident was totally unrelated to another recent incident involving a man with a machete in Boyd Park.
