ALAMOSA – Grassroots San Luis Valley leaders Jamie and Cristalray Dominguez were recently presented the Philanthropists of the Year award by the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC). The award was presented in Denver in early March before the Coronavirus outbreak.

Jamie and Cristalray are owners of Ef’s Restaurant and DGZ Contracting in Alamosa. They have served on the Alamosa County Prevention Coalition, the Alamosa Alumni Association, and helped found the Five Star Riders’ Car Club which has raised money for local toy drives, Thanksgiving meals for needy families, donations to La Puente, ice skates for the Alamosa Recreation Center and many other worthy causes including raising money to help pay for funerals of young overdose victims.

“They first realized that they had the ability to change their own lives, and soon after discovered they could be instrumental in helping to change other lives as well,” stated an email announcement from the Community Foundation of the San Luis Valley. “In the beginning, they went looking for youth in need. Now, their community-connected philosophy and way-of-life have brought young people in need to them.”
