FT. GARLAND – The 8th Annual Valley Rodders Car Show was be held in Ft. Garland on the weekend of October 20th this year.  This year’s car show featured food vendor Castorina Gilmartin who raised funds for the Sierra Grande after prom committee. A coloring contest for kids was also organized so the kids could take part in the show.

This year’s car show included cars both import and domestic, trucks import and domestic, as well as motorcycles. Contestants competed for first place plaques in fourteen different categories. If you are proud of your vehicle, it needed to be in the show.

There was a “Burnout” contest again this year which added some excitement for all of us gear-heads out there. The payout for the winner of the burn out contest was $200; which was split between the contestants this year.  The car show was scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration was from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The registration cost for cars and trucks was still only $20.

Just like last year we featured a large three column “Best of Show” trophy which was sponsored by Rocky Mountain Memorabilia. The winner receives the trophy and the distinction of having their vehicle photographed for all of the advertising posters, flyers for the next year. This year’s winner was a Chevy Nova belonging to Joe Gallegos who came down all the way from Mead. This beautiful Black Nova will be featured in all of our flyers for next year so keep an eye out for it!

The weather was perfect and the Valley Rodders want to thank all of the participants and sponsors that made this year’s car show a success once again.
