Valley Staff

What a busy week!  I thought as a person got older, time was supposed to slow down?  Someone lied to me!

On Sunday, I went to Monte Vista to attend a rally against Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates.  These mandates go against everything I hold sacred.  Scares the heck out of me.  A rally will be held in Alamosa on the 26th of this month—location is being figured out.

Monday was a meeting in Monte Vista, trying to get educated more on the vaccinations—what is in them, should I get one or not? The possible dangers in getting a vaccination.  What supplements and vitamins should I be taking to be the healthiest I can be?  It’s all pretty over-whelming!  And scary!

Tuesday was a Society Hall meeting—getting ready for our big Fall Celebration—today!!  You still have time to come down for a hamburger and listen to some great music.  Why, oh why, did I say that Larry and Willie Wade and I would do the hamburgers?  Must have been in one of my less tired moments.  It will be good!  Thanks to Valley Meat for helping us out!

After Society Hall, was the school board meeting.  The meeting was unexpectedly changed from Thursday evening to Tuesday evening—leaving a lot of folks out of participating.  Hopefully, that doesn’t happen again.

Wednesday was a City Council meeting where an update on the downtown traffic fiasco (my words) was supposed to be given.  The update was postponed because…. CDOT and the city hadn’t gotten together, or something, so signatures will continue to be collected.  If you think the traffic design is unsafe please stop in at the Green Spot, Valley Automotive, Sports Print Plus, Haynie’s Automotive, Healing Touch Bodyworks, Campus Café, and Marty’s Maintenance to sign the petition.  You don’t have to be from Alamosa to sign—you can be from anywhere, but need to have driven the road.  If you can’t get in, please give me a call at 580-7838 to put your name down.  Thank you!

Betty F. did report at the council meeting that a lady had tripped/ stumbled on the inside curb and was injured.  Do you know of any other incidents?  Or mirror damage, or door damage?  Let me know.  Thx.

Thursday was my relief evening.  Trish Cunningham had stopped by earlier in the week and told me she had done a little weeding at the Hall—so appreciated!  When I mentioned to her that I wanted to plant some shrubs and perennials there, she asked if she could help—Wow!  I loaded up some plants and in just over an hour we turned a patch of dirt into a flower bed.  I am so thankful for her inspiring me to get after it!  Now…to keep the deer out!  I will spray some Bobbex, and then double dose in a week with some Liquid Fence.  And then a shotgun??

Garlic and tulips and daffodils and alliums are shipping next Monday—yahoo!  It may get close to freezing next Monday/Tuesday so be prepared to cover your tender plants.

I am offering a reward for the arrest, conviction and public humiliation of whoever stole the garden hose out of Mom’s Garden!  It’s so violating!  If your neighbor now has a faded yellow hose with a new end on one side, and a long greyish/blackish hose, please let me know.  You don’t have to tell them I am missing hoses—I can do that part.  As long as I’m at it, if you are at a bar-b-que and your neighbor has a set of 3 tire planters, they just might be mine?  Maybe you can ask them where they got them, because you love them.  Or take a secret picture and come by the store and show me.  Again, I can do the public humiliation part—I have all kinds of ideas?  I just hate thieves!!

The punk who stole my truck has been arrested and has been sent to a juvenile detention facility in Pueblo. Thanks go out to MV Chief George Dingfelder and the officers of the MV Police Department for staying on top of it and arresting this kid, when he surfaced.  And now, I will see how the wheels of justice work with a juvenile, who acted like an adult when he stole my truck.  Time will tell.

My customers have donated $316.00 for Danny Pruitt.  Loose change and geranium sales add up!  Thank you!
