VALLEY — The Valley Humane League (VHL) is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves the needs of at-risk animals. Its mission is to protect, shelter and re-home companion animals in loving, responsible, committed, and permanent homes by promoting healthy relationships between pets, people, and our communities.

Valley Humane League’s Board of Directors currently has one officer vacancy—secretary—and is also interested in filling a number of general board member positions. Specific focuses for the general positions include legal, construction/engineering, fundraising, marketing and public relations, and strategic financial planning. Joining the existing board members, it is anticipated the new members will bring leadership skills and expertise to the board that will assist with the growth and development of the organization. The board meets monthly and is currently planning for a new animal shelter which will increase its capacity to assist homeless animals.

In addition to board members, VHL would like to expand and strengthen its volunteer program. Volunteers are critical to the success of VHL, and are necessary for a multitude of activities. Some examples of where volunteers are needed are to help with periodic community dog adoption events, walk dogs at the shelter, serve on committees, serve as volunteer coordinator, create and maintain a mailing list, organize fund-raising events, and more. VHL can’t pay its volunteers or board members, but it can create a fun and rewarding environment in which to work!
