Manassa resident Victor F. Romero, 80, went to his eternal rest on Oct. 28, 2023.

Victor was born on May 25, 1943, in San Antonio, Colo. He was the son of Felipe Romero and Faustina (Vigil) Romero.

He met his future wife, Desmarie, in the late 60’s while working at the potato processing plant in La Jara. They were married in 1969 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2020.

Victor was a heavy equipment operator for the Conejos County Road and Bridge Department in both La Jara and Antonito before transitioning to working in maintenance for St. Joseph’s Parish in La Jara and Manassa. He learned to fix cars from his father and enjoyed spending countless hours working on his vehicles and keeping them well maintained.

Survivors include his sons Stacy (Michelle) Romero, Lakewood; Jamie (Susan) Romero, Lone Tree; daughter, Ilene (Luis) Agustin, Aurora; grandchildren, Samantha Romero, Mia Romero, Emma Romero, Celina Agustin and Ana Agustin; sisters Dorothy Valdez of La Jara, Colo.;  Gloria (Glenn) Brown of Calif.; Wilma (Ross) Duran of San Antonio, Colo.; brother Donald (Bernadette) Romero of Antonito, Colo.; and brother-in-law Solomon Lopez of San Antonio, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Desmarie Romero, his sister Della Lopez, brother Felipe Romero, Jr., and brother-in-law, Leonard Valdez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held immediately after at 10 a.m.
