Volunteers needed

ALAMOSA — La Puente’s Valley Educational Gardens Initiative (VEGI) invites you to join us as we continue to revitalize your community garden.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday at Boyd Community Garden on the corner of 11th and State Avenue in Alamosa, VEGI will be partnering with San Luis Valley Great Outdoors (SLVGO) to construct a walking path through the garden.

VEGI is asking for community members to help out as it creates a path, fills it with crusher fine and levels it out.

This project will take place outside in the elements, so VEGI asks volunteers to bring sun and eye protection, as well as closed-toed shoes and layers that are appropriate for a late October day in the SLV.

Lunch will be sponsored by SLVGO and the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition.
