Families wanting to get in a few extra steps can enjoy a walk around Alamosa City Hall and read the book “Mouse Mess” while they are at it. The story is now available in the StoryWalk boxes around the building. The Friends of the Alamosa Public Library placed the story and invite readers of all ages to come and read and walk together. Starting right in front near the parking lot, walk and read your way through “Mouse Mess” by Linnea Riley. Displayed in both English and Spanish, each box contains a page of the story that encourages the reader to walk from one station to the next.

There’s a mouse in the house, and when he wakes up, he’s going to be hungry for a snack. From cookies to jam, he munches his way through the kitchen and makes a big mess. Both the story and the illustrations were created by the talented Linnea Riley.

This national project was created by Anne Ferguson of Vermont, and was developed in collaboration with the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

StoryWalk is a community project that was started in 2016 by the Alamosa Literacy Council as a way to bring literacy to families. In 2018, the Friends of the Alamosa Public Library took over the responsibility of the StoryWalk. Stories will be changed out periodically.
