Walmart donates to food bank network

ALAMOSA — Each year the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley (FBNSLV), a program of La Puente, serves nearly 11,000 individuals across the Valley. The FBSNSLV is only able to do this work through the generous support of their many supporters.

The FBNSLV is extremely grateful for the continued support of the Walmart Foundation which granted the program $30,000 in 2016/2017. The funding has been used to purchase non-perishable “nutrient dense” food for the network of 14 food pantries located across the San Luis Valley.

Walmart also supports the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley through regular food donations. Last year, the Alamosa Walmart Superstore donated more than 200,000 pounds of food to the FBNSLV.

It is these community partnerships that form the cornerstone of a strong community.
