Concert is free but donations always welcomed

ALAMOSA — In a “show of gratitude” from Society Hall to the community, the band Waverly Road is performing a concert on Saturday, Nov. 25, for those interested in launching the holiday season with some fine music performed by locally well-known artists.

“We have so much to be thankful for,” reads a collective statement from the Society Hall folks, “and that’s why we’re recreating this special event that we hosted in the past. This is a free event. No tickets, no door charge.”

Unique and community minded as always, the statement goes on to read, “We do encourage folks to bring a crockpot of soup to share for supper and/or a dessert for intermission. The sharing of the soups will be at 5:30 p.m. with the music beginning at 6:30. Intermission and desserts will be shared at 7:30 p.m. and music to top off the evening — ending about 8 p.m. Donations will be accepted and are always appreciated.”

Waverly Road — known for their tight harmony, “inventive instrumental interplay” and a playlist of Americana, Rock and Roll, Blues, and Folks — has a long history in the San Luis Valley, but Saturday night is guaranteed to be special.

A note from band member Scoot — also known as Scotter or Scott Russell — gives a glimpse of what’s awaiting those music lovers who come to the show.

“Waverly Road is so excited to be playing Society Hall on Saturday, Nov. 25,” Russell writes. “We’ll be performing an entire show of our very own originals. This will be a ‘first’ for me in my 55-plus years of playing on stage. Reckon it’s time to take off the training wheels! Please come join Dale, Eli, Peter, Dean, and myself for a special evening of fellowship and music.”

In homage to an extraordinary music venue supported by a steadfast community of fine, music-loving people, the staff at Society Hall extends a warm invitation to all.

“This should be a beautiful community gathering — bring the family and come join us!”

Saturday, Nov. 25, doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with music beginning at 6:30 p.m. Society Hall is located at 400 Ross in Alamosa. No tickets needed, but donations for the musicians will be gratefully accepted. Questions about what to give? Call Ruthie Brown at 719-580-7838.
