Wayne “H 11” Nelson Crowther, 84

Longtime valley resident Wayne “H 11” Nelson Crowther, 84, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 at the St. Mary Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo.

Wayne was born in Sanford, Colorado on November 25, 1933 to Grace Rogers and Robert Earl Crowther.  He started his career as a Meat Cutter at the Davis Meat Company in Pueblo, Colorado and in 1965 partnered with George Stephens and began Valley Meat Company in Alamosa.  He retired in 2012.

Wayne loved being in the mountains and especially hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed traveling about the countryside and seeing the sights.  Wayne was an avid supporter of Sanford High School Sports and watched many games throughout the years.

He is survived by his children: Wayne “Butch” (Tammy) Crowther of Sanford, CO, Mike (Robin) Crowther of Page, AZ, Brenda (Garnet) Omoth of Billings, Montana, Kim (Jason) Miller of Chandler, Arizona, Nancy Morse of Terra Haute, Indiana, Jed Crowther of Pueblo West, CO and Jenny Pelloni of San Diego, California; as well as fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.  

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his son Warren Crowther, his grandson Brandon Crowther, his great-granddaughter Neveah Cook, his brothers and sisters: Afton, Effie, Clyde, Melva, Willis, Betty June, Paul and Lovinnia.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Sanford Cemetery.  Contributions are suggested to the Sanford School Athletics, P.O. Box 39, Sanford, Colorado 81151 in his memory.
