Wednesday Farmers Markets begin at Rio Grande Farm Park

ALAMOSA — The Rio Grande Farm Park will be hosting weekly farmer’s markets on Wednesdays, throughout the month of August and September. The market will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each week. Double up food bucks will be honored. This is an opportunity to support locally grown amazing food grown at the Rio Grande Farm Park.

This week the market featues Antonio Garcia in the Vendor Spotlight. Antonio has lived in Alamosa for many years with his wife Sandie. They are amazing farmers. He was always known for his garlic and spinach that he grew at his home in Alamosa, but when the opportunity to grow food at the Farm Park became available he started a small farming business. He grows everything from squash to garlic, to peas and corn. Please join him and RGFP’s other farmers this week to taste the freshest available produce, from the vine. Wednesday’s harvest is picked on Wednesday!

The Rio Grande Farm Park has eight incubator farmers all working to bring the best available produce, herbs and flowers to market. After the market everyone will share some peach clafouti, make with Palisade peaches. The public and the farmers are encouraged to meet.
