Weiser returns to Valley

VALLEY — On Saturday, August 11, Phil Weiser made his sixth visit to the San Luis Valley, and fifth to Alamosa, as part of his campaign for Attorney General of Colorado.

As a candidate for statewide office, Weiser has prioritized these opportunities to learn directly about the area’s most pressing challenges and to connect with Valley residents and leaders who are committed to securing a viable, thriving future for the area. During his visit, Weiser expressed deep appreciation for these visits and for the counsel he receives from friends in the Valley like Ken Salazar and Joe Martinez – multigenerational Valley residents who want the best for the region and Colorado.

Weiser has pledged to fight for the success of San Luis Valley. At Saturday’s meet and greet, he discussed efforts to preserve water through smart management and promote the Valley’s agricultural and economic future.

He also described conversations with Alamosa County Sheriff Robert Jackson and others who have experienced firsthand the devastating effects of the opioid crisis across the state. Weiser is committed to solving this epidemic by addressing opioids through the lens of public health rather than criminal justice and creating effective diversion and treatment programs for users.
