Wildwood presents night of comedy

DEL NORTE — Wildwood Sounds, 850 Grande Ave., Del Norte, presents comic Marc Yaffee on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Call 657-4757 or see wildwoodsounds.com.

Yaffee is an award-winning comedian featured on the Showtime special, Goin’ Native: The American Indian Comedy Slam. He has also been seen on the PBS special, Crossing The Line, The Latino Laugh Festival and Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen. Yaffee has been heard on SiriusXM Radio as well as multiple appearances on the nationally syndicated, Bob & Tom Show. He won the Ventura Comedy Festival’s Funniest Person Contest in 2012.

Since starting standup comedy in 1999, Yaffee has performed in 42 state and 12 countries, including six times overseas for Armed Forces Entertainment in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Some of Yaffee’s more unusual comedy experiences include; performing on a flatbed truck for US Marines in the Iraqi desert while getting his head shaved; doing a tribal comedy show on a mountainside in the Sierra Nevadas; and doing material for a planeload of Alaska Airlines passengers en route to Juneau, Alaska.

“I’m excited to come back Southern Colorado,” says Yaffee.  “I’ve done shows before in Alamosa and Monte Vista and crowds in this area are always fun and ready to laugh.”

Yaffee recently shot the TV pilot, Almost Americans, where he plays a comedian teaching citizenship to new immigrants. The show’s cast also includes Gerry Bednob (Mooj from The 40 Year Old Virgin) and Steven Michael Quesada (Agent Gomez from Breaking Bad). He also just taped the premier episode of the new standup series, First Nations Comedy Experience for the FNX (First Nations Experience Network).

This is a sweets and snacks potluck. Bring a favorite healthy snack to share, and as always coffee and tea are on the house.
