La Jara resident Willie G Valdez, 75, passed away at his home with his family by his side on March 8, 2023. He was born on April 21, 1947, to Juan F and Clofes Valdez in San Antonio, Colo. He retired from the City of Littleton Waste Water Management in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia Valdez; parents, Juan F and Clofes Valdez; brothers Faustine Valdez, Leroy Valdez, Sam Ruybal, Leo Ruybal and Dennis Ruybal; sisters Priscilla Vigil, Tilly Montoya, Lucille Salazar, Rosemary Romero and Annabelle Valdez.

He is survived by his sons; Steve (Holly) Chavez of Aurora, Colo.; Arnold (Becky) Chavez of Broomfield, Colo., and daughter, Eva Montoya of Bloomfield, N.M., and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and could be found outdoors working in his garage with multiple projects. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. And he loved to dance with the love of his life, his wife Cece.

A rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Church in La Jara, Colo., on Sunday March 12, 2023, at 7 p.m. and funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Our Lady of the Valley Church in La Jara, Colo.

The care of arrangements has been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
