Alamosa resident Wilma Hildred Simpson, 97, passed away on December 11, 2021.  She was born on November 10, 1924 in Kiefer, Oklahoma to James Edward and Joyce Leota (Shirley) Bland.  She married Lloyd Jack Simpson in Taos, New Mexico on February 23, 1940.  The two shared 74 years together before Jack’s passing in 2014.  Wilma enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing with her husband at the Elk’s Lodge and time spent with family and close friends.

Wilma is survived by her children, Cleave Alan Simpson of Alamosa and Ann (Larry) Mitchell of Las Cruces, New Mexico, her grandchildren, Randy (Jeri) Mitchell, Rod (Kari) Mitchell, Mark (Dori) Mitchell, Cleave Alan (Cathy) Simpson, Jr., Natalie Sue (Kenny) Rogers, Kevin Simpson and Cheri (Kevin) Jones as well as her great grandchildren, Josh Mitchell, Jeremy Mitchell, Katelyn Mitchell, Elle Mitchell, Brynn Mitchell, Tim Hass, Jon Hass, Tyler Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Kaytlyn Simpson, Kade Jones, Kassey Jones, Kolton Rogers, Jared Simpson and Wyatt Simpson, her great great grandchildren, Clayton Hass, Aiden Hass, Conner Simpson and Landon Rogers as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Clarine Claunch, May Plunkett, Ben Bland, Lee Bland and Hava Nobles.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday December 17, 2021 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa.  Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.  To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
