MONTE VISTA — Colorado State Patrol Technician Garth Crowther is seeking any witnesses to the June 19th fatal accident a mile west of Monte Vista on Highway 160. Crowther is particularly interested in speaking to a female driver who is believed to have been driving a black SUV that was also almost hit before a 2015 Chevrolet 3500 pickup collided into a 2014 Honda Pilot shortly after 11 a.m. on June 19. A passenger in the Honda, Creede resident Genevieve Basler, 77, was killed as a result of the crash. Her husband Thomas, who was driving their car, was also seriously injured, as was the driver of the pickup, John Sherdan, 62, of Phoenix, Arizona.
Crowther said he would appreciate anyone with information about the crash to please call him on his cell phone, 588-3724.
