Wolf Creek hosts third fun race

ALAMOSA – The Wolf Creek Ski Area hosted its third fun race last Sunday. The race was a modified grand slalom which took place on the Lower Charisma course.

A total of 63 racers took part in the event, which included competitors from Oklahoma, North Carolina and Arizona.

The overall winner was Corbin Horrocks of South Fork with a time of 25.29 seconds. David Sciole, also of South Fork, was second in 26.95, and Land Matthes of Sandia Peak, N.M., was third in 27.24.

Julie Church of Pinetop, Ariz., won the ladies race in 32.33 seconds. Sandy Sharp of Fountain Hills, Ariz., was second in 32.75, and Elizabeth Kunz of Pagosa Springs was third in 33.53.

Wolf Creek will host its Giant Slalom race on Saturday. Registration will be at the base camp deck from 8-9 a.m. with course inspection from 9-10 a.m. The race will run from 10-11 a.m., and the second race from 11 a.m. until noon. The award ceremony will take place at the base camp deck at 2:30 p.m.
