ALAMOSA — A pickup truck owned by Swire Coca-Cola of Alamosa caught fire Wednesday morning on the company’s lot after having been involved in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday on Poncha Pass. Tony Bobicki, assistant chief for the Alamosa Fire Department, said they were summoned to the location at 2255 Enterprise Drive about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday and eight firefighters had the fully involved truck extinguished in about 20 minutes. He speculated that it was possible that the vehicle’s battery cables had not been cut following the wreck. Anthony Bowden, general manager at Swire’s Alamosa location said the truck had been involved in a wreck about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday on Poncha when a second vehicle apparently slid out of control into the path of the Coca-Cola pickup. The local driver was examined and released at the emergency room. Other details of the crash were not available.
