Beat the Heat BBQ and Brewfest in Alamosa

ALAMOSA — Beat the Heat BBQ and Brewfest returns Aug. 9 and 10 to Cole Park for another year of delicious food and fun for the entire family. Competition teams from Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Kansas, Arkansas, and Arizona will convene in Alamosa on Friday, Aug. 9, to compete in the Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned BBQ contest.

The event kicks off Friday with the Beer Garden opening at 4 p.m., the Bloody Mary Showdown (followed by sampling for those 21 years old and older) beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the Brewers Classic Cornhole Tournament starting at 6 p.m.

Friday evening vendors include Gosar Sausage, Mammoth Spud Cafe, Sno Shack, Bouncy Houses, Hallsway Escape Room, Dumb Friends League and Alamosa Perk.

Saturday brings the heat kicking off at 10 a.m. with free yard games and the Craft Beer Garden. At 11 a.m., People’s Choice Sampling begins continuing until 3 p.m., or until the barbecue is gone. Sample barbecue professionally prepared by 13 award-winning pitmasters.

The Spare Keg Brewerks Brewfest starts at 1 p.m. The cost is $35 for unlimited samples of craft beer from Riff Raff Brewing, Mountain Merman Brewing Company, Walter's Brewery & Taproom, 14er Brewing Company, Florence Brewing Company, The Colorado Farm Brewery, San Luis Valley Brewing Co., and Spare Keg Brewerks.

SLV Transportation will be providing safe rides following the Brewfest on Saturday.
