Friday is National Night Out

ALAMOSA — In what has become an annual event, this year’s “City Services Fair and National Night Out" will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Cole Park. Many factors make this event truly one-of-a-kind, not the least of which is its goal of creating and strengthening good relationships between the people of Alamosa and the law enforcement officers who protect the community where we all live.

“We are promoting the City Services Fair and National Night Out as an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, work, and play,” says Capt. Sam Maestas with the Alamosa Police Department.  “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors, retailers, and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

“It also provides an excellent opportunity to bring police and the community together to socialize. We encourage residents, businesses, and visitors to participate in this national event. The Alamosa Police Department will provide free food and drinks.”

This event includes just about every agency people can think of — especially those that appeal to the little kid who lives in just about everyone — including the Police, the Sheriff, EMS, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, the Library, SWAT Rescue Vehicle, Ambulance, City Trucks, Heavy Equipment, Tractor, Helicopter, and, of course, booths staffed by different organizations.

And if that isn’t enough, the Alamosa Police Department will provide free food and drinks.
