Alamosa resident Marylou Perea, 85, fell asleep in death on July 2, 2024. Marylou was born to John Smith and Molly Padilla on March 6, 1939, in Greeley, Colo.

Marylou came to love and appreciate Jehovah’s ways (John 17:3). Marylou loved reading her Bible every day. Alone with reading her Bible, she loved studying and preparing for Christian meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed associating with her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Marylou was extremely lovable and was loved by family and friends.

Marylou fell asleep knowing that she will be resurrected in perfect health and young again and will live in a beautiful paradise here on earth just as it is promised in the Bible at Psalm 37:29- “The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it” and John 5:28 & 29- “The hour is coming is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”  She held on to the hope of living forever on earth and seeing her loved ones again when Jesus will resurrect them and that thought alone reassured her heart of better things to come.

Marylou is survived by her children, Tammy Ruybal, Jackie (Terry) Cunningham, Roberta Martinez, Dondy (Diashon) Perea and Rodger (Nikki) Perea. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Roger Romero Jr., Rick J Romero, Don Jacob Ruybal, Corey James Ruybal, Lenny Martinez, Michael Martinez, and Keith Martinez. She is also survived by her siblings Joe, Sunny, Ruby and Lupe and many nephews and nieces.

She was proceeded in death by her siblings Ruth, Jessy and Bobby and her grandson Luke Martinez.

Memorial services for Marylou are pending.
