Alamosa Police Department’s Chief of Police Ken Anderson has shared with the Valley Courier that he resigned from his position on Tuesday, effective at the end of November.

Anderson has been at the helm of APD for the last five years and with the department for a total of 23 years.

When asked for a comment, City Manager Heather Brooks wrote, “Chief Anderson has dedicated 23 years to the Alamosa Police Department and community.  The Department was able to strengthen and grow under his leadership.

“We will be moving quickly to begin the process of replacing Chief Anderson and appreciate his willingness to participate in that process in order to ensure the best outcome for the Department and community.  I fully support Chief Anderson as he made the hard decision of passing the torch and know that he did not arrive at that lightly.”
