NHSFR continues with three locals performing

ALAMOSA – The National High School Finals Rodeo continued with three individuals from the San Luis Valley performing.

The rodeo is taking place in Gillette, Wyo.

Ben Sittler of Monte Vista had his first bull ride on Monday evening but did not record a score.

Gracie Wilson of Center had her first barrel race on Monday evening and she had a time of 18.813 seconds which was 14th in the performance. She is in 68th place overall.

Klayt Staudt of Saguache and his partner, Rett Coors of Loveland, competed in team roping for the first time on Tuesday morning. They recorded a time of 19.63 seconds which was eighth in the performance.

Staudt and Coors are in 39th place overall following the Tuesday morning performance.

Another team which included another local in Tylee DeHerrera of La Lara and her partner, Kaysen Shahan of Pagosa Springs, is in 16th place overall with a time of 9.38 seconds on Monday morning.

Staudt is also tied for 53rd place in boys cutting with a 62-point performance also on Monday morning.

Sittler will have his second bull ride on Friday morning, while Staudt and Coors will perform again on Thursday evening. Wilson will race again on Friday morning.

Staudt’s second effort in boys cutting as well as the second attempt for Cayden Schulz of Alamosa in steer wrestling, and DeHerrera and Shahan is on Friday evening.

The NHSFR concludes on Saturday.
