It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Martinez (Ray) a beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Godfather. He passed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., with his family at his side April 7, 2023, at the age of 56. Raymond was born in Romeo, Colo., and raised in La Jara, he was a farm hand and a jack of all trades and very dedicated to his family and a good provider.

Raymond liked to go fishing, spending time with family and friends, and making people laugh but, most of all he loved taking walks with his wife in the early mornings or late evenings and taking pictures along the way.

Raymond will be missed by his wife Josephine Martinez of La Jara, his daughters Raylene and Heather of La Jara, his mother Mercy Martinez, brothers Danny (Velma) Martinez of Farmington, N.M., Leon Martinez of La Jara, Sidney Martinez of Grand Junction, and brother in-law Albert Espinoza of La Jara, sisters Judy (Juan) Jaurigui, Renee (Curtis) Little, Johanna, Lourdes (Fred) Gemoya, Theresa (Jimmy) Hunger, Marion Martinez all from Grand Junction, his uncle and Godfather Ross Vigil and Aunt Thelma from Denver, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his only God son Jedidiah Martinez of Grand Junction. He was and will be known as good man by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe B Martinez, his brothers Clyde, Tommy and Dwayne Martinez, his grandparents Felipe and Ramona Vigil, Uncle Baldino Martinez, Aunt Pat Martinez, Father in-law Bert Espinoza, nephews Nick Martinez, Fernando Lopez III, nieces Michele Martinez and Justine Little.

Memorial services will be held April 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. there will be a Rosary, viewing and a Mass at our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Colo. He will be laid to rest in the La Jara cemetery immediately following the mass. A dinner will be served at the American Legion in La Jara.
