ALAMOSA – The Alamosa, Centauri and Del Norte high school cross country teams opened their seasons at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede Friday at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs.
Alamosa competed in the championship division mainly against larger schools.
The Lady Mean Moose finished 16th in the girls race with 404 points. They were led by Elizabeth McQutty, who finished seventh in 19:41.00. Olivia Formisano was 87th in 22:47.10, Reese Canaan was 129th in 25:11.90, Daelyn Jackson was 137th in 28:38.0, and Isabella Lopez was 139th in 29:06.40.
The Alamosa boys were 18th with 398 points. They were led by Ethan Merrick who was 41st in 17:00.50, followed by Jeremiah DeLaCerda who was 56th in 17:15.90, Tyler Dokson who was 92nd in 18:03.70, Cody Williams who was 125th in 18:44.30, Cael Canaan who was 148th in 19:16.60, William Wilson who was 152nd in 19:21.00, Cody DiCamillo who was 182nd in 22:31.50, Matthew Hollingsworth who was 183rd in 23:45.30, and Danny Lopez who was 184th in 24:57.40.
Centauri was in the small school division and the Falcons were ninth in the boys race with 240 points. Leading Centauri was Carson Bagwell who was 13th in 19:06.90, followed by Lincoln Bagwell who was 28th in 20:02.50, Dice Koontz who was 49th in 20:57.90, Tyrel Hostetter who was 78th in 22:16.20, Troy Sowards who was 102nd in 23:26.50, Rhett Taylor who was 113th in 23:55.40, Gavin Graber who was 127th in 24:50.20, Liam Sowards who was 162nd in 28:10.50, and Hunter Horton who was 181st in 31:47.30.
Del Norte also competed in the small school division. It was fifth in the boys race with 166 points. Mads Kreutzer led the Tigers as he was 23rd in 19:42.80. Caleb Cowett was 29th in 20:05.00, Jax Lester was 38th in 20:12.50, Josiah Yocom was 40th in 20:18.20, Cruz Matta was 56th in 21:19.60, Corbin Horrocks was 67th in 21:45.30, and Landon Crowther was 117th in 23:59.30.
Centauri was fourth in the girls race with 95 points. Leading the Lady Falcons were McKenzie Torres who was 20th in 23.22.60, Jocelyn Jarvies who was 23rd in 23:44.30, Kourtney Heikes who was 25th in 23:58.70, Erica Miller who was 29th in 24:12.40, Bailey Graber who was 33rd in 24:21.30, Ella Guymon who was 47th in 25:22.10, Brooklyn Shawcroft who was 51st in 26:00.50, Lyndie Sowards who was 55th in 26:10.20, Faith Medellin who was 65th in 27:07.60, Alyvia Norton who was 68th in 27.18.60, Hannah Guymon who was 73rd in 27:29.40, Rylie Sowards who was 88th in 29:19.20, Lindsey Robins who was 93rd in 29:34.80, Sara Kelly who was 96th in 30:06.40, Jeana Dunn who was 109th in 31:28.10, and Beijah Sowards who was 113th in 31:41.20.
Del Norte did not have a team score as it did not enter a full team. The Lady Tigers were led by Madeline Mitchell who was 45th in 25:08.60, Frannie Edelin who was 46th in 25:17.30, and Ella Cowett who was 112th in 31:36.00.
Alamosa’s next action will be the Arapahoe Invitational at DeKoevend Park in Centennial this coming Friday. Centauri will be at the Rocky Ford Invitational on Friday. Del Norte will be at the Durango Invitational on Saturday.
Other local teams in action this week include Antonito, Centennial and Center at the Antonito Night Invitational on Friday.
