Anthony Eli Atencio, 64, Manassas, Va., formerly from Antonito, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2024. He was born in Alamosa, Colo., on March 22, 1960.
Anthony was so looking forward to retirement and returning home to the San Luis Valley. He was a loving father and grandfather and would often brag about his family.
He was a jokester who spent a lot of time laughing. He loved to fish, but mostly chose to spend his time with his family and friends. Anthony was a dedicated employee of Prospect Waterproofing for over 20 years.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Joshua (Victoria) Atencio, Va., and Jonathan Atencio, Antonito; Mother of his children, AnnaRae Martinez, Antonito, two step-children, Theresa and Jason; two granddaughters, Areana (Avant) Ortega and Javeryn Atencio; two grandsons, Jonathan and Kyle; and his siblings, David, Julian, Alex (Mary Jane), Gary (Bobbie Jo), Louella (Darren), and Veronica (Tony).
He was preceded in death by his parents Elias and Sevia Atencio, infant sister Luella and infant brother Gerald.
A rosary service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Conejos, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10 a.m., with funeral service immediately following. Interment will be held at a later date.
