ALAMOSA – In August, Evergreen Nursing Home, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, welcomed Amy Lopez as its new director of nursing.

Lopez comes to the position with several years of experience working in health care. She previously worked at Evergreen as a certified nursing assistant before earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing and transitioning to labor and delivery hospital care. In October 2023, she returned to long-term care at Evergreen, working as a floor nurse until she was promoted to director of nursing.

“So far, this team has been one of the best I have worked with,” Lopez said about her experience at Evergreen. “They all work together and communicate effectively. The residents are all great, and I love being able to interact and provide a positive home environment for them.”

When asked about her job as director, Lopez expressed her love of caring for residents and seeing her staff interact and care for them. Looking ahead, her goals are to continue helping her team work together to provide residents with the highest quality of care possible, and she is looking forward to the future.

“I am excited to step into this role and help people in the community have another place that feels like home when they need skilled nursing or long-term care,” she said.

Located at 1991 Carroll Ave., Evergreen Nursing Home is one of 22 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Colorado managed by Life Care Centers of America.
