James Geiser

Posted

James Thomas Geiser was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Lamar, Colo., to the late John and Mildred Geiser. He was a truck driver for most of his career, driving for his family’s business, "G&G Trucking".  He loved driving his trucks and did so for nearly 64 years! He also ran a farm in the San Luis Valley.

Most of all, he was a family man and did all he could to provide for them. His hobbies included anything his boys were doing, and he could always be found at his sons’ athletic or 4-H events. He took great pride in his boys and captured their lives through numerous photos, videos, and newspaper articles. His legacy as a father and husband will live on. He will be greatly missed.

On July 30, 2024, James T. Geiser passed away surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Leola Geiser.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Geiser; his mother, Mildred Geiser; and five siblings: John Geiser, Judy Miller, Jerry Geiser, Jerome (Chub) Geiser, and Jack Geiser.

He is survived by his siblings Joe Geiser (Angie) and Jeff Geiser (Nancy), and three sisters-in-law: Carolyn, Marie, and Julie Geiser. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Hank Miller.

He is the cherished father of Jim T. Geiser II and his wife Elaine, William R. Geiser and his wife Sandra, and Troy D. Geiser and his fiancée Tara. James was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Josh Peterson, Jake (Angela) Geiser, Emily (Eric) Struder, Cassie Geiser, Cole Geiser, Rex Geiser, Lindsey Geiser, Zach Geiser, Kiley Geiser, Austin Monson, and Sydney Monson. He also had three great-grandchildren: Eva Struder, Elizabeth Struder, and Jason Geiser.

There will be a rosary on Aug. 17, at 9:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa, Colo. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery, and there will be a reception in the church hall following the interment.
