DEL NORTE — The Rio Grande County Democratic Party is holding its 4th Annual JFK fundraiser dinner on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Colorado Grille and Taphouse, 590 Grand Ave., Del Norte. Doors open at 6 p.m. 

Each dinner has featured relevant and interesting Democrat speakers and this year is no exception. The keynote speaker will be State Senator and Senate Majority Whip Julie Gonzales (SD 34). Senator Gonzales is Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Vice Chair of the Local Government and Housing Committee and serves on the Appropriations Committee, Legislative Audit Committee and Committee on Legal Services. 

The senator has served since 2019 and is a progressive leader on issues of statewide interest, sponsoring bills on housing and rental regulations, several aspects of the criminal justice system, prescription drug affordability and medical price transparency, victim restitution and was of course a Senate co-sponsor for SB24-137, Planting of Uncertified Potatoes.  

Also expected to attend are State Senator Jessie Danielson (SD22) as a representative of the Harriz-Walz presidential campaign and candidates and campaign representatives for United States Congress, the State Board of Education and the Colorado House and Senate.
