Thomas ‘Tom’ Alfonso Guttierrez

Thomas “Tom” Alfonso Guttierrez, of Greeley, Colo., passed away on July 27, 2024, at his home residence surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 2, 1953, to Claude and Juanita (Salazar) Guttierrez in Monte Vista, Colo.

Tom graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1971 and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and received his Bachelor’s Degree, and he attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and received his Master’s. He married Kathleen Quintana at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church in Denver, Colo., in 1974. The couple moved to Denver in 1983, followed by a move back to Monte Vista in 1999, and ultimately to Greeley, Colo. Tom and Kathy had two beautiful daughters, Alison and Eneria. Tom worked as a USDA Inspector until 1995, then became the Director of National Market News, and served his community well.

Tom was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was an outdoorsman; he frequently visited the mountains. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; he was a true-blue Broncos fan and loved various sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughters, Alison (Brian) Rodriguez, Eneria (Jason Strong) Guttierrez, grandchildren, Michaella Rodriguez, Neila Fee, Jonah Rodriguez and Jordan Rodriguez, brothers, Phillip (Bernie) Guttierrez and Patrick (Bernice) Guttierrez, and a sister, Rose (Andy) Sanchez.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Juanita, and his brothers, Claude Jr., and Michael.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at 4 p.m., at Allnutt Funeral Service - Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th St., Greeley, with a rosary following at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at Allnutt Macy Chapel, 11 a.m., burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with a reception following at Allnutt Macy Chapel.
